We are studying here the basics of human nutrition, its relationship with the care and development of our body, as well as its implications for health and illness.

How can you start?. 1. Check you understand the meaning of the words in blue;   2. Underline unknown vocabulary, look at the dictionary and copy these words your exercise book.

then read one page and copy and answer book exercises, ask the teacher those exercises that you do not understand.

Hi everyone, we are going to share this small web space, this blog will help you (to study, to enjoy and and to learn more). We have to use english at the classroom, it is hard, but we shall be proud at the end of the Year, I am sure.
Try to focus on words in black and blue at the book, repeat, write and try to understand them.
You should practice doing activities and work on Biology at least twice a week.
Exercise 9 at page 11 mention protozoan, they are very small living thing made of just one cell, at the microscope they can be seen as here.  An answer of this exercise can be as follows: "the survival of cells depend on nutrients and oxygen, our cells get nutrients and oxygen from blood and so they can not live separately from the blood. Nevertheless protozoan, as unicellular, get nutrients and oxygen by themselves, from water and surroundings, they can survive just with water and decay".
Revision activities are about stem cells. they are going to be quite familiar to all of you since stem cells will be used in medicine in 20 or 30 years, to recover from some skinesses. Thus lets to learn about stem cells on page 15, read and answer all questions. To those who want to know more about these stem cells try here.
Who have received the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2012? It was awarded to Sir John B. Gurdon and Shinya Yamanaka for their discovery that "mature, specialised cells can be reprogrammed to become immature cells capable of developing into all tissues of the body. Does it sound like stem cells?.

Welcome to 2012-13 Year

Welcome to all 3rd Year ESO students at IES Rosalia Castro, Santiago. Goodbye to all of 2nd Baccalaureate students

We are starting a new academic year again, all of us have plenty of stories to talk from our holidays, but also new projects can be made nowadays, maybe with newcomers or someone that we missed.

What do you think about your Biology and Geology textbook? Difficult? I hope not. You have to read 1-2 or 3 pages every week, and practice with exercises, if you do that, you will pass.

Preparando o exame de setembro

Para preparar o exame de setembro pode servir de axuda as seguintes precisións:
1. Debedes estudiar as figuras seguntes, para completar con nomes: a célula, o sangue, os aparatos respiratorio, dixestivo, reproductores,   o corazón,  o esqueleto,   a boca e os sentidos,  e o cadro de hormonas.

2. No libro da saúde e nutrición non imos facer preguntas das páxinas que seguen:
     as páxinas de  25 ata 31,     a táboa 2.2  ,  a pax 43,   as páxinas 67  ata  73
3. No libro de relación e reproducción non imos facer preguntas das seguintes páxinas:
       páxinas 16  ,  18,   20 ,   21  , 43  ,  45,    e desde a páxina 59 ata o final
4. No libro de xeoloxía debedes ESTUDIAR  TAN SO:
       meteorización física e química e o que vimos das diapositivas para interpretar paislases.

Se tedes a libreta do curso cos exercícios do libro traedes a libreta,  se non fiestees todos os exercícios podedes completalos e presentala o día do exame como unha proba do voso traballo nas vacacións.
O exame terá preguntas de verdadeiro/falso,  múltiple resposta , figuras para completar con nomes, e cadros ou textos   para completar.
